Jon Cooper has made a name for himself as one, if not the best, coach in the NHL since taking over the Lightning bench on March 25th, 2013. 434 (84 postseason) wins, two Atlantic Divisions titles and two Stanley Cup championships, that is all but certified now.
Prior to the big divisional matchup against the Boston Bruins tonight, Cooper shared his memories of all the tough battles between two of the best teams over the last decade.
As per Matt Porter of the Boston Globe:
Cooper and Jim Montgomery go back to the early days of the ''Coaches Cafe'', a coaching convention that was started by Montgomery and his good friend Jon Goyens of the QMJHL.
Cooper took part as a special guest several times over the years, and the two have become great friends. The Lightning coach now shared some praise for what Montgomery has done for this Boston team:
''The proof is in the pudding. They're arguably the best team in the league.''
