A recent report has revealed that the Edmonton Oilers may be losing Leon Draisaitl after all.
David Pagnotta reported that the Oilers are wanting to offer Draisaitl an 8-year deal but there are rumours that he does not want to sign for that long.
Pagnotta also reported that the superstar may be looking for something similar to what Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews signed for, a short-term deal between 3-5 years.
Unless something's changed since the start of the playoffs, it's more likely to see a Auston Matthews-esque type of extension . . . anywhere from a three to five year extension versus a full eight. - David Pagnotta
If the Edmonton Oilers and Leon Draisaitl can't come to a deal, the Bruins may be the next best spot for him as it was revealed that the Bruins are one of the favourites to land Draisaitl if he hits free agency.
