Two-Time Stanley Cup Winner Announces Retirement from Hockey
After a 1001-game NHL career, Andrew Ladd has retired, sharing the news on social media.
His journey began in 2005-06 with the Carolina Hurricanes as the fourth overall pick in 2004.
Ladd achieved success, winning two Stanley Cups with the Hurricanes and Blackhawks. He blossomed as a top-six forward in Chicago.
Joining the Atlanta Thrashers as captain marked a turning point, with seven consecutive seasons of 20+ goals. Winnipeg saw his leadership, leading the Jets to their first playoffs since relocation and a career-high 62 points.
Ladd signed with the New York Islanders but faced declining performance due to injuries. A trade to the Arizona Coyotes marked his 1000th game, but his final season ended early.
Despite challenges, Ladd leaves a respected NHL legacy as a valuable power forward contributing to multiple teams' success.
