Brad Marchand has recently opened up on retiring from the NHL, and it seems like he isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

After winning the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers, there was a lot of speculation surrounding where Brad Marchand was going to end up.
Many believed that Marchand was going to test free agency, especially after the rumors that he could fetch upwards of $10 million in the open market.
Instead, Brad Marchand ended up signing a six-year, $5.5 million deal to stick with the Florida Panthers.
Recently he revealed the reasoning behind why he re-signed with them, and stated that the fact that Bennett and Ekblad returned, it was a huge factor to him.
«Bennett and E [Ekblad] coming back were huge factors in me staying.

Those guys are awesome, guys that I really vibe with well, and I really wanted to stay there. I just didn't really think it was going to be possible.

I didn't pay a ton of attention to the cap situation they were in, but I knew that we were up against it.»

Brad Marchand speaks on retiring from the NHL

"This contract solidifies that I'm going to play for a long time here, and I have every intention of playing it out," says Marchand. "Hopefully I can keep up with the young guys here in the next number of years here. It's something I want to hold on to as long as I can. My family loves it."

Marchand said that the league is going to have to kick him out for him to retire:
"They're going to have to kick me out of the league for me to go," says Marchand to RG.org.

He then went on to say that he is going to play until he isn't able too:
"I'm going to play until I can't play anymore. When I heard one of my coaches say that, it always stuck with me. The longer you play, you realize how close you are to the finish. It's like you want to hold on to that as long as you can. That was always my mindset, and it is today. I want to play as long as I possibly can."
