Former Bruin veteran and captain, Brad Marchand, has issued a statement to the media regarding why he didn't sign with Boston this offseason.
Following Brad Marchand departing from the Boston Bruins and making his way into the Florida Panthers roster during the NHL Trade Deadline this past March, Bruins fans were extremely hopeful he'd make his way back to Boston after the completion of the season.
However, that was unfortunately not the case, as this veteran forward ended up re-signing with the Florida Panthers, and according to this former Bruin, it was never about the money.

In an exclusive interview with RG.org, Marchand revealed the reason for re-signing in Florida was due to the loyalty and closeness exhibited by the club which ultimately made him think twice about leaving.
«Bennett and E [Ekblad] coming back were huge factors in me staying.
Those guys are awesome, guys that I really vibe with well, and I really wanted to stay there. I just didn't really think it was going to be possible.
I didn't pay a ton of attention to the cap situation they were in, but I knew that we were up against it.»

It was a bit of a shocker to see what kind of deal Marchand accepted to stay in Florida, especially due to the fact there were rumors circulating that this forward could have been offered some big numbers on the open market.
However, for a player who is coming to the end of his professional career, it is now certain that loyalty is priority for him.
Despite loyalty being a big aspect to Marchand's decision to stay in Florida, he also revealed that it's the fact that while he is one of the older players in the league; the team kept him spry.
