Besides Crosby, younger guys like MacKinnon, Matthews and McDavid don't have the team success that Tom Brady or LeBron James do, but the way the three have taken the NHL by storm should not go unnoticed.
However, if you go outside the hockey world, nobody knows just how good of athletes these young players are.
Tampa Bay Lightning forward
Patrick Maroon appeared on the Pat McAfee show and discussed the situation:
Auston Matthews had a historic regular-season scoring 60 goals, while Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid are ripping it up in the playoffs and only people who follow hockey know about it. McDavid is quite literally having the best postseasons of the modern era, and I don't think it's being talked about enough.
The NHL does a terrible job marketing the sport, especially its top players. What needs to change?
