Discussions confirmed for a trade between the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars for a gritty forward
Leading up to the 2024-25 NHL trade deadline, the Boston Bruins ended up trading Trent Frederic, now they may be on the market to replace him with another gritty forward.
He was set to be a unrestricted free agent, and with the Bruins out of a playoff spot, they thought it would be best to move on from him without losing him for free.
After losing such a player, there is no doubt the Bruins are going to have to try and find a replacement for him.
When at his best,
Frederic played a heavy game while also being able to contribute offensively, and the Bruins should look for someone similar to that to replace him.
Bruins In Discussion With The Stars For A Trade?
It's unclear if the Bruins have reached out yet or not, but they should be highly interested in Dallas Stars winger
Mason Marchment.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that the Stars are shopping Marchment to free up some cap space.
With the Bruins needing secondary scoring and some toughness, this is a no doubter for Don Sweeney and he should be all over this.
In 62 games for the Stars,
Marchment had 22 goals, 47 points, 79 hits, and a plus-15, in the year before he ended up setting a new career high in points with 53.
There is no doubt that Don Sweeney should not be interested in him especially considering he has an affordable cap hit with a $4.5 million cap, and is signed until next season.
In the end, the Bruins need more gritty players, and need to replace Frederic, there is no better option on the market then someone like Marchment.
