The Boston Bruins organization is reportedly set to depart with a top goaltender this offseason, and it's shocking.

The Boston Bruins' 2024/25 season left their fan-base with an immense amount of doubt regarding the team's future, especially within the net.
The Bruins' starting net-minder, Jeremy Swayman, did not perform up to the expecations that were once held over the 26-year old's head.
Signing an eight-year $66M deal recently, may ultimately come back to bite general manager Don Sweeney and the Bruins' management.
Although Swayman's statistics have been on the decline, there was certainly a silver lining with the Providence Bruins' goaltender situation in the AHL.
Goaltender Michael DiPietro put Providence on his back, especially in the second half of the season and earned the AHL's honors of 'player of the month' on multiple occasions, proving he may be ready to make the leap to the NHL.
In the NHL, Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo sharing the crease caused a rift, with Korpisalo vocally stating he would like more playing time.
Putting two and two together, it made many assume Korpisalo would be moved to a team in dire need of a starting goaltender, and DiPietro would take the reigns as Swayman's backup.
But Don Sweeney may be making a Linus Ullmark type of mistake once again, as he is officially letting DiPietro test free agency.
The 25-year old goaltender certainly won't last long on the open market this summer, which lacks goaltenders. His 26-8-7 record and .927% save percentage will be viewed as a reliable option for many NHL organizations.
«@AHLBruins All-Star G DiPietro has opened plenty of eyes and is seen as the top goalie available among group 6 free agents. Plenty of @NHL clubs I've spoken with have expressed their interest in him.»
In the coming weeks, we are expecting to witness DiPietro land in a new home, and next NHL season the young, driven, goaltender is expected to seek revenge when facing the Bruins.
