With the NHL trade deadline looming, the New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche struck a deal on Friday evening, marking an intriguing exchange of assets between the two teams.

Announcing the trade via social media, the New Jersey Devils revealed their acquisition of 29-year-old forward Kurtis MacDermid from the Avalanche. In return, the Avalanche received a 2024 seventh-round pick and Russian prospect Zakhar Bardakov.

MacDermid, hailing from Sauble Beach, Ontario, brings a wealth of experience to the Devils, having appeared in 29 games this season for the Avalanche and contributing two goals along with 23 penalty minutes. Notably, he was part of the Avalanche's Stanley Cup-winning team in 2022.

On the other hand, Bardakov, a 23-year-old forward, was a seventh-round pick by the Devils in 2021. Despite his potential, Bardakov's tenure with the Devils comes to an end as he departs for the Avalanche.

As the trade deadline approaches on March 8th, hockey fans can anticipate further roster shake-ups across the league, with teams making last-minute moves to strengthen their lineups for the remainder of the season and beyond.
