With the Florida Panthers defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs, a key condition was just met and now the Brad Marchand trade between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers has officially been completed.
The Toronto Maple Leafs looked like a different team this year with a new head coach, a new General Manager and a bunch of upgrades at the NHL trade deadline, they took a comanding 2-0 series lead on the Panthers early on and looked like they were going to control the series.
Everyone knew that the Leafs were not going to cake walk the Panthers, but they did look like a very different team. The Panthers ended up responding and winning 3 straight games to take a 3-2 series lead.
The Maple Leafs ended up forcing game 7 in the series, but the Panthers showed exactly why they are a Stanley Cup favourite as they just dominated the Leafs from the beginning.
Florida ended up beating the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 6-1 and with the Panthers moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals, a trade between the Panthers and Bruins has officially been completed.
Trade Completed Between Bruins and Panthers
At the NHL trade deadline, the Boston Bruins traded Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers as he requested to go there.
In return, the Boston Bruins got a conditional second-round draft pick, with the conditions being that Marchand had to play in 50% of their playoff games, and the Panthers needed to make it to the ECF, and if they did, the Bruins would get a first-round pick.
Boston received a conditional second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft in return.
Well the Florida Panthers are officially on their way to the Eastern Conference Finals, meaning the Boston Bruins have officially acquired a first-round pick from the Florida Panthers.
By advancing past Round 2, Florida will send a 2027 first-round pick to Boston to complete the Brad Marchand trade.
