Leading up to the off-season for the Florida Panthers there was a lot of speculation regarding Brad Marchand's future with the organization.
A lot of rumors suggested that Marchand could reunite with the Boston Bruins in free agency.
Instead, just before free agency begun the Florida Panthers announced a contract extension for Brad Marchand, signing a six-year $5.5 million deal.
The Florida Panthers are signing Brad Marchand to a six-year deal at just under $5.5M AAV, per @FriedgeHNIC.
Despite the rumors suggesting that Marchand could get a massive pay day of up to $8 million in the open market, he decided to remain with the Florida Panthers.
Entering free agency, there was a belief that the Panthers were going to lose one of Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett, or Aaron Ekblad, but instead they managed to keep all three of them.
Now, after winning back-to-back Stanley Cups, it was just confirmed for Brad Marchand and the Florida Panthers.
Panthers to face the Blackhawks in season opener
The NHL released their opening night schedule for the 2025-26 season, and it sees the defending Stanley Cup Champions facing off against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Puck drop for the first game between the Blackhawks and Panthers is 5 p.m. ET, on Tuesday October 7th.
