During the 2024-25 season, the Boston Bruins were considering moving on from Morgan Geekie.
Geekie was facing a lot of heat from Boston Bruins fans after struggling for the first half of the season.
Towards the NHL trade deadline, there were a lot of rumors that the Boston Bruins were going to trade Morgan Geekie.
Ultimately, Don Sweeney ended up holding on to Geekie and it turned out to be the right move.
Geekie ended up dominating in the second half of the season, scoring 33 goals, 24 assists for 57 points in 77 games played.
Not only that, but the chemistry he created with David Pastrnak is unmatched, and trading him would have been a big mistake.
Geekie confirms a rumor to the media
Fans started to panic a little bit whenever the Boston Bruins did not quickly announce an extension for the 26-year-old.
On June 29th, the day before NHL free agency began, the Boston Bruins announced an extension for Geekie, signing him to a 6-year, $5.5 million contract.
He just confirmed live to the media that he had no intention on going to sign with a different team:

Geekie showed a lot of upside, scoring new career highs in goals, assists, and points, and the Bruins are hopeful he can do it once again next year.
