A player involved in a trade between the Bruins and Maple Leafs is expected to have a massive role next year
Two rival teams do not often trade with each other, but the Boston Bruins did this with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the NHL trade deadline, and now a player is expected to have a big role next season.
The biggest move that Don Sweeney made last year was easily trading
Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers.
A big reason the Bruins ended up trading Carlo to the Leafs was due to the return they were able to get.
In return for Brandon Carlo, the Boston
Bruins acquired Fraser Minten, a top prospect along with a 2026 first-round pick, and a 2025 fourth-round pick.
The trade definitely did hurt the Bruins, as losing Carlo is a massive loss for them on the blueline, but they are looking for future pieces in their retool.
Minten, who was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2022 has shown a lot of promise in his time with the Boston Bruins.
He ended up making a big impact in his time with the Providence Bruins scoring three goals, 4 assists for 7 points in 11 games. He then went on to play for the Bruins at the end of the season, scoring one goal in six games.
Minten to have a big role with the Boston Bruins
His smart two-way game gives him a better chance at earning the position over players like Poitras, or Mittelstadt.
