An NHL Insider Issued An Unexpected Announcement Regarding Rick Tocchet And The Boston Bruins

Early on into the 2024-25 season, things weren't going right for the Bruins and Sweeney felt like it was time to move on from head coach Jim Montgomery after just two seasons with the organization.

In his place the Boston Bruins promoted Joe Sacco from assistant coach to the interim head coach of the Boston Bruins.

The players showed some life for the first couple of games under Sacco, but would quickly come back down to earth, and the Bruins finished dead last in the Atlantic Division, and 28th overall in the league.

Now the Boston Bruins are searching for their next head coach, and when Mike Sullivan was fired it was reported that he was a top candidate for the Boston Bruin.

Unfortunately the Bruins missed out on him and he signed with the New York Rangers instead, but they have heavily been linked to Rick Tocchet.

Ever since it was announced that Tocchet would not be returning to the Canucks organization, he has been linked to the Boston Bruins.

Elliotte Friedman revealed yesterday that he's unsure if Tocchet would be a ideal fit for the Bruins as the Canucks offered him $4 million, and he didn't take it. The Bruins don't like to pay a lot for their coaches, making it seem like there isn't a chance for the Bruins to secure him as their next head coach.

Well according to Darren Dreger, he reported this morning that the Boston Bruins are still a top contender to land Tocchet, along with Philly and Seattle.
