Bruins defenseman Mason Lohrei may have officially earned his roster spot back after an outstanding performance in their most recent game.
Lohrei found himself being
healthy scratched for the Bruins' last five games but got an opportunity in their latest game.
Just a couple hours before puck drop between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs, the Bruins announced that
Charlie McAvoy was not going to be playing.
The reason McAvoy was out of the lineup was due to
stepping away for a personal matter. It's unclear what exactly happened, but McAvoy did not travel with the Bruins to Toronto.
With this, it opened up an opportunity for Lohrei to draw back into the lineup, and he took advantage of it.
Lohrei may have earned his roster spot back
Sturm stated that he kept healthy scratching
Lohrei because he was hoping that it would make him a better player whenever he returned to the lineup.
Well, that was the case, as Lohrei ended up picking up two assists in 14:49 of ice time, had 0 turnovers, and was the most impactful player during their game.
Kudos to Mason Lohrei for playing solid in his return to the lineup. 14:49 TOI, 2 assists, ZERO giveaways, and a +2 rating. That's how you respondond after getting taken out of the lineup #NHLBruins

If Lohrei continues playing like this, Sturm has no reason to take him out of the lineup once again.
