Boston Bruins fans are mourning after a recent statement was made on social media regarding a former Boston Bruins fan favourite.

Five years ago, a former Boston Bruins fan favourite was taken from us at way too young of an age.
After going undrafted, Colby Cave was signed by the Boston Bruins and made his first appearance in the NHL during the 2017-18 season where he would end up playing just three games for the Boston Bruins.
He wouldn't score any points, and was only averaging just over 11 minutes a game.
The following year, Cave saw some more NHL time with the Boston Bruins appearing in 20 games, and would finally score his first NHL goal with the Bruins organization, also picking up 4 assists for 5 points.
He then got traded to the Edmonton Oilers during the 2018-19 season, and would play another 33 games with the Oilers, scoring 2 goals and picking up an assist.
On April 11th, 2020, Colby Cave unfortunately ended up passing away four days after he had surgery to remove a colloid cyst that was causing pressure on his brain.
Now a recent statement on social media has Boston Bruins fans mourning.

Boston Bruins Fans Mourning After Recent Statement

When Colby ended up passing, he left behind a wife, Emily. On April 11th, 2025 she made a post on how it's been five years since he has passed and had a heartbreaking message in it.
Take a look:
5 years without you. "I will endure a lifetime of missing you for the privilege of loving you" 🪽
Boston Bruins fans quickly ended up commenting on the post and showing their support for Emily.
Once a Bruin, always a Bruin.
Rest in Peace, Colby.
