Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney Set To Acquire Another First-Round Pick After A Completed Trade

The Boston Bruins are already in their off-season after missing the playoffs for the first time in eight years, but they are relying on the Florida Panthers to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals so that they can acquire another first-round pick.

During the NHL trade deadline, Don Sweeney decided it was best to trade Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers.

In return, the Bruins got a conditional second-round pick, that could turn into a first-round pick.

The conditions on the pick was that Marchand had to play in at least 50% of the Panthers playoff games, and that they need to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals for it to turn into a first-round pick.

While the Panthers are now back in a good position to move on after going down 2-0 in the series and coming back to tie it at 2 a piece. They are just two wins away from turning the second-round pick, into a first-round pick.

Recently, Brad Marchand spoke out on why he wanted to go to Florida, and stated that he felt they had the best chance at winning the Stanley Cup, and he wanted to chase another one.

Marchand has played a big role for the Panthers so far, scoring the game winning goal in overtime to give them their first win of the series, and has 2 goals, 6 assists for 8 points in 9 games so far, while playing third line minutes.

Bruins fans will be cheering for the Panthers and Marchand in hopes that the second-round pick turns into a first-round pick.
