Bruins Goalie Jeremy Swayman has a bit of fight in him, and while he's sure that he could get some momentum going for his team, we're not sure after his statement that they felt the same way, and it's shocking.

Typically, an NHL goalie never leaves the crease unless he has to, and never drops the gloves. But in certain situations, players like Ron Hextall and Felix Potvin did in the past, and it gave the game a special kind of energy that the Bruins team lacks at the moment.
The Bruins are paying him $8.25 million a year, a $66 million contract in total, but we're certain it's not to fight. Instead, he should focus on how to increase his save percentage while decreasing GAA.
Instead, he allowed 7 goals by the Los Angeles Kings, while facing only 23 shots that night.
In each of the four games he's started over this miserable stretch, Swayman has allowed four goals or more, resulting in an abysmal .815 save percentage with a -3.86 goals saved above average, according to Natural Stat Trick.

But Sunday was a peculiar situation as he found himself trying to drop the gloves with the Los Angeles Kings' Darcy Kuemper.
«I want to give this team a chance to win every night, and I haven't done that in the last two games,» Swayman said to reporters in Los Angeles following the loss to the Kings.

«That's something that I'm going to work on. I'm not giving up. I'm keeping my chin up. I'm not getting the results right now, but I owe these guys better. I owe a hell of a lot of people a lot better, and that's exactly what I'm going
to do.»

Swayman would remove himself from the net in an attempt to protect teammate Marat Khusnutdinov, who was put in a headlock by Kuemper. A peculiar situation, given that Khusnutdinov has plenty of muscle on the ice to help him out.
«He touched one of my guys,» said Swayman. «That was something that I'm not going to accept. It just comes down to sticking up for my teammates. I don't care who it is. It's a guy in black and gold, and you're not going to touch them without getting contested. I care about every one of these guys like a brother. That's just the way I felt, and I felt like it was my turn to step up.»

We're not sure Swayman and his teammates saw eye to eye on that interaction, though.
«Is that what it is?» Zadorov responded when asked if he appreciated Swayman's attempt to stand up for Khusnutdinov. «I don't know. No comment.»

Interim Coach Joe Sacco:

«I just feel like tonight's game was more aboutthere was some intensity involved in the game,» said Sacco. «In that period there, and I just feel like we needed to be better as a team there in that situation.»

It seems that neither Sacco nor Zadorov felt he was doing his best for the team after leaving his crease to instigate a fight with Kuemper.
Given how policing on the ice is solved by players like Zadorov, neither were motivated by his actions that night, despite his best intentions.
With no captain on the team perhaps he felt that it was better to do something, rather than nothing.
