According to a trusted insider in the NHL, Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney may be looking to offer sheet a 22-year-old forward.

Heading into the off-season, one of the biggest needs the Bruins had to address was their secondary scoring.
Don Sweeney ended up trading for Viktor Arvidsson from the Edmonton Oilers, but other then that, he has not acquired anyone else to help their top-six.
Now the Bruins are being linked to a 22-year-old star player that could be solve their problem for them.

The Bruins are one of four teams that are linked to McTavish, and there are talks that they could offer sheet him.
NESN believes that the Boston Bruins may be a team willing to test the waters on an offer sheet for McTavish:
Boston is one of four teams linked to the 22-year-old restricted free agent, whose next deal remains unsigned. It would take a serious number to make Anaheim think twice, but some believe the Bruins might be bold enough to test the waters.

Along with NESN, Shayna Goldman of The Athletic has linked the Boston Bruins to him as well:
«It's worth throwing a dart this summer,» wrote Shayna Goldman of The Athletic, who included the Bruins alongside the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames and Detroit Red Wings as teams that should consider an offer. Goldman noted that any club willing to roll the dice on McTavish needs to «see a little Dylan Strome in him - a late-bloomer who needs the right opportunity.»

Last season, McTavish ended up scoring 22 goals, and 30 assists for 52 points in 76 games with the Anaheim Ducks.
The Bruins have two problems standing in their way of offer sheeting McTavish. The first being cap space, they currently have $2 million in cap space, and need a minimum of $7.02 to meet the threshold.
The other problem would be the risk it inherits, the Boston Bruins have two first-round picks in 2026. One of them being their own, and the other being the Toronto Maple Leafs from the Brandon Carlo trade.
If the Boston Bruins were to offer sheet McTavish, they would have to give up their own first-round pick, would could be risky especially given the type of draft that is upcoming next year.
