Boston Bruins to trade a goaltender to the Edmonton Oilers: A failed trade confirms it
Entering the 2025-26 season, after losing in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, it's clear the Edmonton Oilers are looking to upgrade their goaltender.
Ultimately, the Canucks ended up trading him to the Pittsburgh Penguins instead of a rival within their division.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have acquired F
Chase Stillman and a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for G Artūrs Šilovs.
Bruins to trade a goaltender to the Oilers?
The Sheet podcast stated that there is a similar situation to the Silovs one, and it's taking place in Boston.
The Boston Bruins have a similar goaltending situation that the Vancouver Canucks did, that ultimately led to Silvos being traded.
Similar to Silvos,
Michael DiPietro is performing well in the AHL, but is stuck down the teams depth chart.
The Boston Bruins acquired DiPietro from the Vancouver Canucks in 2022, but has yet to appear in a NHL game for the organization.
DiPietro had a standout season with the Providence Bruins last year, having a 26-8-5 record, with a .927 save percentage, and a 2.05 goals against average.
Marek believes that the Edmonton Oilers are going to go hard after DiPietro after missing out on Silovs.
«There's another Silovs situation happening in the NHL; in Boston, with Michael DiPietro; I just wanted to put lob that out there for Oilers fans; you might not have got your Artus Silovs, but you may get a Michael DiPietro.»
