The Boston Bruins brass will be looking to name a new captain heading into the 2023-24 season. One player who appears to be the front-runner is Brad Marchand, who would fit nicely into that leadership role.
The 35-year-old will be heading into his 15th season of his career, all as a Boston Bruin. Marchand is just a handful of games away from 1,000. He has collected 372 goals, 490 assists, and 862 points in 947 games played; he also carries a career +290 plus-minus.
After the Bruins' had their reveal party for their 100th-anniversary jerseys for 2023-24. Brad Marchand was interviewed by NESN and Conor Ryan when he was asked about what it would mean to be named captain not just in general but also during the Bruins' centennial season.
Brad Marchand stayed humble and gave an answer only a captain could give.
"It'd be cool. But it's not something I'm really focused on. I don't need to wear a letter to be a leader. I know my place in this team." Marchand said. "I know what I do here and I know what my value is."
