After being traded by the Boston Bruins, Brad Marchand recently made a heartbreaking admission regarding his departure from the organization.
This trade ended up marking the end of an incredible era in Boston.
Now Marchand is set to appear in the Stanley Cup Finals again for the Florida Panthers for the first time since 2019. Marchand has proven to be a great fit for the Florida Panthers.
Marchand's Heartbreaking Admission Regarding His Departure
"I got hurt before I got traded," Marchand said to Wyshynski. "The last game I'll ever play in a Bruins jersey was not the last game I thought I was ever going to play in a Bruins jersey."
His final game with the Bruins was against the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1st, where he was injured after just three shifts and 2:18 of ice time.
Definitely not a great way to finish his tenure with the organization.
Marchand did not get to play his final game at TD Garden in front of fans. If he did not get injured, and the Bruins traded him at the deadline, his final game before being traded would have been at TD Garden.
The former captain admitted that he ended up taking things for granted during his time with the Bruins, but some of that was due to stresses:
"When you come to the rink, it can be stressful," Marchand said to Wyshynski. "You start overthinking things. There's this pressure you sometimes put on yourself. You start stressing about things that you don't need to stress about. I know that there are moments that I missed out on or didn't really appreciate because I was stressing about other things."
Marchand is now chasing another Stanley Cup.
