The Boston Bruins are looking for a third line center this off-season, and now there is some speculation that one of their top prospects will be the one to take the job.

At last years trade deadline, the Boston Bruins ended up combining for a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In the trade, they sent Brandon Carlo to the Leafs, and in return the Bruins acquired Fraser Minten, along with some draft picks.
The Toronto Maple Leafs originally drafted Minten during the second round of the 2022 NHL draft, and he had some high expectations.
Now entering this season, he has some even higher expectations as it is believed he could be the answer to the Bruins third line troubles.

Minten expected to make the Bruins roster out of camp

Boston Bruins insider Fluto Shinzawa stated that he believes the Bruins will have Minten as their third line center out of camp.
«Minten will participate in the Prospects Challenge this weekend in Buffalo,» Shinzawa wrote this week. «The Bruins play the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday and the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. The games could be his throat-clearing for a permanent varsity stay.

«The Bruins are hunting for centers. In particular, they need a No. 3 pivot to replace Charlie Coyle,» Shinzawa added. «This is the job for somebody who likes taking matchup shifts, raises his hand for defensive-zone starts, stretches sticks on pucks and forces turnovers.»

Minten ended up adding some size throughout the off-season, putting on 10 pounds so that he could be a better fit in the NHL.
«Minten's fate, then, could depend on how the Bruins deploy Zacha. If they use the ex-Devil, for example, as a left wing to give Mittelstadt defensive support on the No. 2 line, it gives Minten runway to contend for the No. 3 job,» Shinzawa added. «He can already check off boxes of a D-zone specialist: skating low and slow in front of his net, occupying passing lanes, accelerating to highway speed once his team gains possession.»
