A major acquisition has been made: The New York Islanders are not happy
The Boston Bruins made a major acquisition at the NHL draft, and the New York Islanders weren't too happy with it.
Rookie camp is basically over and now the New York Islanders have released a documentary which shows what went down during the NHL trade deadline.
There were talks that the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders were trying to work out a deal that would have saw the Islanders acquire the Bruins 7th overall pick.
Don Sweeney rejected a trade from the Islanders
The camera cuts to Darche on the phone talking to someone, and answers with «Sweens, how are you?»
Obviously this is Don Sweeney on the other end as no other general manager in the league is similar to Sweens.
To the right of Darche was assistant general manager Ryan Bowness, and after the call hung up he said, «He knows who you want to take, obviously so.»
Moments after that, Darche's phone rings again and Bownees says, «There he is.» The «he» in this context would be Sweeney. Darche picks it up, and simply says «Oh ok, thank you. Okay, bye.»
After striking out on making a deal to get
Hagens at the draft, Darche stated, «Well, we're picking at 16.»
This is such a great look for the Bruins, especially with Sweeney having a bad track record during the drafts, that another team wanted a player the Bruins selected so badly.
During his next season at Boston College, Hagens is going to be the face for them.
