A top Bruins prospect has been making a name for himself with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League and just had another massive game.
On Sunday, the Providence Bruins ended up facing off against the Bridgeport Islanders, and Georgii Merkulov once again had an impressive game.
Merkulov ended up scoring two goals in the Providence Bruins' 4-1 win over the Islanders, and one of his goals came at a big time.
His first goal was the game-tying goal in the first period, showing how clutch he has been for them so far this season.
In just six games with the Providence Bruins this season,
Merkulov now has four goals, nine points, and is a plus-4.
Furthermore, Merkulov now has three goals and five points in his past four games and isn't showing any signs of slowing down any time soon.
Merkulov is looking to get another shot with the Boston Bruins this year, and this start to the season has definitely helped his odds.
If he continues to impress, the Bruins will have no choice but to give him a chance on the roster at some point.
Merkulov didn't make the team out of camp
Entering the season, Merkulov had a lot of hype around him but didn't live up to expectations.
Because of this, he was
placed on waivers and sent back down to the Providence Bruins to begin the season.
It'll be interesting to see how long it takes for him to get a chance with the Bruins if he continues to impress like this.
