Debunking Boston Bruins trade rumors involving DeBrusk and Pageau
In recent days, trade rumors surrounding Jake DeBrusk and J.G. Pageau have been the talk of the hockey world, but insiders are here to set the record straight.
Hockey experts Jimmy Murphy and Stefan Rosner have addressed the recent speculations involving the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins, providing much-needed clarity to the situation.
Murphy made it clear that a trade proposal by Andrew Fantucchio, suggesting a swap between DeBrusk and Pageau, was nothing more than an idea and not an actual rumor.
Rosner echoed this sentiment, confirming that there have been no official reports or discussions between the two teams regarding these players.
Rosner further explained that even if the proposed trade were to be considered, it would be unlikely that he would endorse such a deal. He highlighted the value of Pageau's face-off skills, defensive prowess, and penalty kill contribution, emphasizing that losing these attributes in exchange for DeBrusk wouldn't make sense.
While DeBrusk is a talented player, the trade doesn't align with the Islanders' roster needs and the significance of Pageau's role within the team.
Although the Bruins might be exploring options for a center amid uncertainty about Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, it seems unlikely that the Islanders would part ways with Pageau unless they can acquire a top-tier scorer.
Rosner stressed the different dynamics between the Bruins and Islanders, considering DeBrusk's achievements within the Bruins' roster and how it differs from the Islanders' current lineup.
Rosner emphasized that the trade talk originated from creative speculation on various rumor sites and direct messages. After reaching out to Fantucchio, it was confirmed that the discussion was based on a creative idea and not an actual trade being negotiated between the two teams.
As of now, the trade proposal involving DeBrusk and Pageau remains purely speculative and hasn't gained any traction. Both teams will continue to evaluate their roster needs and potential trade options as the offseason progresses.
