Don Sweeney Confirmed The Boston Bruins Have Locked Up Their Top Prospect As They Announced A Contract Signing

Although today is April Fools, this is not a joke, and the Boston Bruins have confirmed that they have locked up one of their top prospects in Dans Locmelis as they have signed him to his three-year entry-level contract.

This morning, Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced that Dans Locmelis officially signed his entry level contract with the organization with a NHL cap hit of $860,000.

Don Sweeney also revealed that the Locmelis is going to report to the Providence Bruins on an ATO (Amateur tryout contract).

Locmelis had a very impressive season in the NCAA this season, skating in 40 games for the University of Massachusetts Amherst scoring 8 goals, along with 25 assists for 33 points.

In his NCAA career, Locmelis skated in a total of 70 games with UMass, scoring 15 goals, 32 assists for 47 points.

Before entering the NCAA, the 6-foot forward played in 44 games for the Lulea HF J20 of the J20 Swedish Hockey League and was over a point per game player scoring 25 goals, 34 assists for 59 points and had a plus-28 rating. Very impressive stuff here.

The Boston Bruins definitely have an exciting prospect here, and it will be interesting to see how he transitions his game into the American Hockey League going forward.
