Don Sweeney just missed out on a blockbuster trade reported by Elliotte Friedman
The Boston Bruins and Don Sweeney reportedly just missed out on a blockbuster trade with the L.A. Kings.
According to Elliotte Friedman the Bruins and Canadiens were both interested in acquiring
Pierre-Luc Dubois before he was traded to the Washington Capitals.
The other day the Kings and Capitals combined for a big trade that shocked the NHL, as
Darcy Kuemper was traded for Pierre-Luc Dubois one for one.
As reported by Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins were close to acquiring him and had a lot of interest in him, makes you think if that was going to be the return when Ullmark blocked a trade from sending him to the Kings.
On PLD: Elliotte says a pretty good source told him there were other teams who were legitimately interested in acquiring him. Elliotte and Jeff guess it's Boston and Montreal. #GoKingsGo #AllCaps #NHLBruins #GoHabsGo #NHL
Just one season after signing a 8-year $8.5 million contract with the Kings, there were rumours that he could be bought out, instead the Kings traded him and were able to get a decent return back.
Thankfully the Bruins didn't make a deal happen for PLD, for the type of player he is, this would have looked horrible on Don Sweeney.
PLD had a pretty underwhelming year, putting up 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points in a full 82 game season.
