Don Sweeney to acquire a former first-round pick: A trade was just requested
According to recent reports today, A Columbus Blue Jackets player has requested a trade out of the organization, and this could be a good opportunity for Bruins.
Yegor Chinakhov's agent, Shumi Babaev revealed to the media today that his client has requested a trade out of the Blue Jackets organization.
Blue Jackets General Manager Don Waddell told The Athletic that he is aware of the situation and has already began working on a trade.
«I had some misunderstandings with the coach during the season,» Chinakhov said. «Now I would be glad to have a trade. I would like to move to a different location. Will I return to Russia? As long as I can play in the NHL, I will keep developing here.»
Jackets General Manager told Aaron Portzline of The Athletic that he is not just
gonna dump Chinakhov in a trade, but will only trade him if he gets a fair value return.
Waddell stated that if a trade does not materialize by training camp, that he expects Chinakhov to report to the team, but he will continue on trying to find him a new home.
Should the Boston Bruins be in on Chinakhov?
Chinakhov only appeared in 30 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets, averaging 15:43 of ice time per game, but was healthy scratched a lot towards the end of the year.
In the Blue Jackets final 13 games of the season, he found himself sitting out of 12 of those games.
This has ultimately stumped his development in the NHL, and a new home is definitely the right move. Although his numbers aren't the best scoring just seven goals, and eight assists for 15 points, Don Sweeney should be interested in acquiring him.
Many people believe that Don Sweeney should be interested in acquiring him:
I'm all over this if I'm the Bruins
Chinakhov is still young, at just 24-years of age, and has plenty of room to grow. The Bruins want to become younger and more skilled, well Sweeney has a good opportunity to do that here.
