A shocking statement was just made by well-trusted NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman, regarding the Boston Bruins' general manager, Don Sweeney, and the organization's front office.
The Boston Bruins' 2024/25 NHL campaign was an outrageous one, as the organization not only departed with some of their most favourited players, but they also completed the season being absent from postseason contention.
With that being said, if this Original Six franchise is in hopes to become big enough contenders to compete during the 2025/26 season, they will need to make some major changes.
This ultimately means the Boston Bruins' general manager, Don Sweeney, and the front office would need to dive head-first into a rebuild, rather than continuing on with their re-tool process.
At this moment in time, the Boston Bruins need to capitalize on their current retool to undergo a full rebuild.
As a full turnaround from sitting near the bottom of the NHL basement, to becoming one of the top contenders does not happen overnight.
This kind of change would need the Bruins to call a rebuild and depart and acquire several players.

On Elliotte Friedman's recent 32 Thoughts podcast, he revealed that he believes the Boston Bruins organization does not have it in them to rebuild.
He stated:
«I think Boston, to me, rebuilding is not in their DNA,» Friedman said on 32 Thoughts
Although this is a pretty shocking and bold statement coming from Friedman, it is hard to argue with his point.
The Boston Bruins organization has not intended to do a full rebuild for several years, rather, they undergo re-tools.
