The Boston Bruins' general manager, Don Sweeney, has been suggested to depart with a $66M net-minder in a blockbuster trade this offseason, and it's shocking.

The Boston Bruins were evidently one of the worst teams in the NHL during the 2024/25 season, yet, they have been adamant on becoming bigger competitors for the upcoming season.
And if the Bruins do decide to go head-first into becoming contenders for the 2025/26 NHL season, they will need to do a complete rebuild, which would likely be their best option.
Luckily, the organization does have some key trade chips that they can take advantage of during this desperate time.
With that being said, a recent mock trade was proposed by Heavy.com, involving the Boston Bruins organization dealing their star net-minder, Jeremy Swayman, to the Edmonton Oilers.

The Boston Bruins' Don Sweeney set to depart with the organization's starting net-minder, Jeremy Swayman, in potential blockbuster trade

This suggested trade goes as follows:
The Boston Bruins to acquire:
- Stuart Skinner
- Matthew Savoie
- Beau Akey
- 2028 first-round pick
The Edmonton Oilers to acquire:
«The proposed deal would be a blockbuster as Edmonton would get a franchise-changing goalie. Boston, meanwhile, gets an NHL goalie, a young forward and defenseman prospect, as well as a first-round pick.» Wrote Cole Shelton of Heavy.com

Additionally, an NHL source revealed to RG.org's James Murphy that Edmonton did in fact explore a potential trade for the Boston Bruins' Swayman.
«They weren't the only ones who had inquired about Swayman, but yes, I was told they poked around,» the source told RG.
However, another source told Murphy that the Boston Bruins organization doesn't plan on trading Swayman, as they want to be contenders next season.
«Sweeney consistently said, 'No' or 'Don't bother; we're going to sign him,' and he made it clear how much they valued Swayman,» the source said.
Although it is uncertain whether or not the Boston Bruins will depart with their starting net-minder, Jeremy Swayman, this offseason, it seems as though the organization will be pursuing their retool head-on.
