Rumor: Boston Bruins enter full blown rebuild after trading away Jeremy Swayman in a blockbuster move
Last season, the Boston Bruins were one of the worst teams in the league, but management has stated multiple times that they want to become more competitive for the upcoming season.
If the Boston Bruins were to start a rebuild, this would not be the case.
Jeremy Swayman has been in a bunch of rumors this off-season, and has been linked to the Edmonton Oilers multiple times.
Now,
Heavy.com has recently proposed a trade that would see Jeremy Swayman being sent to the Edmonton Oilers, and would ultimately put the organization in a rebuild.
Heavy.com proposed trade involving Jeremy Swayman
This would be a blockbuster trade, and Edmonton would finally get a franchise goaltender.
Boston on the other hand would get an NHL goalie in return, as well as a young forward and defenseman prospect, and a first-round pick.
Skinner would be entering the final year of his three-year, $7.8 million deal, where he has struggled to be consistent.
Last year he had solid numbers with a 26-18-4 record, a 2.81 goals against average, and a .896 save percentage, but it helps that he plays on a stacked team.
Savoie would add some youth to the Bruins roster, and could play as a middle-six forward for them. He was originally drafted 9th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Akey on the other hand was a second-round draft pick in 2023, but many believe that he could push for a roster spot in the NHL next season.
If the Boston Bruins do decide to go down this road,
Jeremy Swayman would have to agree to a trade, but if they make it clear that they want to rebuild, there is a good chance he would accept a trade to a team that just went to back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals.
It will be interesting to see what route the Boston Bruins decide to go down before the beginning of the 2025-26 season.
