Former Boston Bruins Fan Favourite Defenseman Hit With Tragic News Following Recent Announcement
A former fan favourite Boston Bruins defenseman was just hit with some tragic news regarding his NHL career going forward in a recent announcement.
On Tuesday Armstrong ended up meeting with the media for their end-of-year press conference, and he revealed that Krug will more then likely not play another game in the NHL.
This news comes after
Krug ended up missing the entire 2024-25 season after undergoing ankle surgery in the off-season. His last game played was April 10th, 2024 when the Blues defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2, and he ended up scoring the game winning goal.
According to
PuckPedia, Krug still has two years remaining on his seven-year contract that he signed in 2020 with the St. Louis Blues during free agency. He ended up spending 4 seasons with the team, scoring 22 goals, and 124 assists for 146 points in 255 games.
Krug also ended up picking up four points in seven playoff games with the St. Louis Blues.
Before he ended up signing with the Blues, Krug played 523 games with the Boston Bruins where he was beloved. He ended up scoring 67 goals, along with 270 assists for 337 points with the Bruins.
He was also a big time player for them in the playoffs scoring 11 goals, 41 assists for 52 points in 75 playoff games with the Bruins.
It's unfortunate that his time in the NHL got cut short, but all good things must come to an end.
Although he has not officially retired, he is expected to retire in 2027 whenever his contract is officially don.
