During his time in the NHL, Blake Wheeler had a very successful career, but has decided to hang up the skates for good after missing the 2024-25 season.
Wheeler was drafted 5th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2004 NHL Entry Level Draft.
He would go on to play nearly two decades in the NHL, appearing in 1,172 games between four different organizations in the Boston Bruins, Atlanta Thrashers, Winnipeg Jets, and the New York Rangers.
His first and only season with the Rangers ended up being the last one of his career.

At 38-years-old, Blake Wheeler has officially called it a career from the NHL, and is now looking forward to his next venture in hockey:

Many believed that Wheeler was calling it a career after he did not sign a contract as a free agent for the 2024-25 season, but now the former captain has made it official.
Wheeler ended up scoring 321 goals, 943 points in 1,172 games, becoming probably the best player in Winnipeg Jets history.
It's not clear what Wheeler wants to do now that he has retired from the NHL. There is a good chance if he wanted a role with a NHL team, he could land one.
Wheeler spent the first three years of his NHL career with the Boston Bruins appearing in 221 games, scoring 50 goals, and 60 assists for a total of 110 points.
