Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand showcased an exceptional performance over the weekend, securing victories against the Maple Leafs and the Blue Jackets. However, it wasn't just his on-ice prowess that made headlines.
In a post-game interview, Marchand dropped a hint about a personal mission, expressing his desire to lure long-time Bruin Patrice Bergeron out of retirement.
"Maybe I'll keep getting in [Bergeron's] ear about trying to get him to come back,"
Marchand revealed.
Since a recent meet-up with Bergeron, the team has enjoyed a three-game winning streak, outscoring opponents 10-4 during the run. Bergeron, in praise of Marchand's leadership, commented,
"He's done such a tremendous job. He's kind of grabbed the reins and he's never looked back, really."
While Bergeron has not made any statements regarding a potential return, Marchand's persistent efforts might offer a glimmer of hope. Over the weekend, fans were treated to seeing #37 in Bruins colors as he suited up in the Alumni game.
Notably, the Bruins Alumni Association, featuring players like Bergeron, has raised over $10 million for local charities and youth programs over the past 54 years, further highlighting the positive impact of Bruins legends both on and off the ice.
