Marco Sturm officially releases his first statement as head coach of the Boston Bruins

After making it official in the morning on Thursday, new head coach of the Boston Bruins Marco Sturm issued his first statement.

It took the Boston Bruins a long time to find their head coach, in fact out of the 6 teams that needed a new head coach in the off-season, the Boston Bruins were the last ones to hire one.
Even though they were the first team during the season to fire their head coach. Jim Montgomery was originally relieved from his duties with the team on November 19th, where Joe Sacco took over for the remainder of the year as interim head coach.
Teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Seattle Kraken and the Chicago Blackhawks all announced their head coaches before the Boston Bruins.
There was speculation that Marco Sturm was going to be the head coach a week before it was announced.
On Thursday, the Boston Bruins made it official, announcing Marco Sturm as the 30th head coach of the organization.

Sturm's First Statement With The Bruins

After being hired, it didn't take him long to make his first statement:
«I'm incredibly honored to be named head coach of the Boston Bruins,» Sturm's statement read. «I want to thank Charlie Jacobs and the Jacobs Family, Cam Neely and Don Sweeney for trusting me with this opportunity.

«Boston has always held a special place in my heart, and I know how much this team means to the city and to our fans. I've felt that passion as a player, and I can't wait to be behind the bench and feel it again. I'm excited to get to work and do everything I can to help this team succeed.»

Sturm played for the Boston Bruins across five seasons, and is now returning after spending some time with the Los Angeles Kings, the Ontario Reign in the AHL, and the German national team.
