Not long after the Boston Bruins ended up hiring Marco Sturm as head coach, it was reported that Joe Sacco was finding himself a new job. Now the Boston Bruins have sent him a sad goodbye message.

Reports late last night confirmed that Joe Sacco was taking a coaching job with the New York Rangers coaching staff, after there was rumours about it earlier in the day.
OFFICIAL: #NYR name David Quinn, Joe Sacco (BOS), and Ty Hennes (PIT) as assistant coaches on Mike Sullivan's staff.
Before leaving the Boston Bruins, Sacco was a member of the coaching staff for a long period of time.
He originally joined the organization as an assistant coach on Claude Julien's staff in 2014 and severed as an assistant coach for 10 seasons with the Bruins. Entering the 2024-25 season Sacco was elevated to the associate coach under Jim Montgomery.
During the 2024-25 season he was once again elevated to the interim head coaching position after the club decided to fire Jim Montgomery on November 19th due to the team getting off to a slow start. The Bruins were 8-9-3 to begin the season and fired Jim Montgomery due to this.
Under Sacco, the Boston Bruins ended up going 25-30-7. It was reported that Sacco was a candidate for the full-time job, but not long ago Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Boston Bruins decided to move on completely from him.

Boston Bruins Goodbye Message to Sacco

After announcing Marco Sturm as the new head coach, the Boston Bruins issued a goodbye statement to the longtime coach:
On behalf of the Boston Bruins, we want to thank Joe Sacco for his professionalism and dedication to our organization over the past 11 years. Joe always put the team first and took great pride in helping players improve and succeed. He's a great hockey mind, but more importantly, he's a terrific person.

We are all grateful for the memories we've shared with Joe during our time together in Boston. While this is a difficult part of business, we respect Joe's decision to continue his coaching career in New York, and we wish him and his family all the best.
The Bruins are now set to hold an introductory news conference on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
