NHL Insider Advises The Boston Bruins To Avoid Making This Massive Mistake In The Off-Season

The Boston Bruins ended up finishing the year with a 33-39-10 record, and ended up missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season because of how bad they were.

During the 2024 off-season, the Bruins made some big moves to make them more competitive, so missing the playoffs was a big shock to many.

Although a lot of players ended up struggling, the Bruins did have some bright spots, and one of them was Morgan Geekie. The 26-year-old ended up having a breakout year and cemented himself as a top player for the Bruins.

In 77 games for the Boston Bruins, Geekie ended up setting new career highs with 33 goals, 24 assists and 57 points.

Morgan Geekie has been in a bunch of trade talks after the season he had, because of this Chris Johnston of The Athletic and Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff ended up listing him on their trade board.

Geekie is a restricted free agent this summer, which is ramping up his trade value, and making him a big target in the off-season. Now the Bruins are being advised to avoid making the mistake of trading him.

He ended up being one of the bright spots for the Bruins during a very disappointing season, and if they were to trade him it would just create another hole in their lineup, similar to when they let Jake DeBrusk walk in free agency.

With how well Geekie and Pastrnak played together, and the chemistry they formed trading him would be a big mistake.

It has been reported that the Bruins are working on a contract extension for the RFA, but it's unclear when an extension would be placed.
