After having a disappointing year, there was belief that the Boston Bruins were going to be a better team heading into next season, and they nearly made themselves better by completing a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Don Sweeney ended up making some lacklustre moves this off-season.
With the moves Sweeney has made this off-season, the Boston Bruins aren't really a better team entering the new year.
The biggest move that Don Sweeney made was completing a trade with the Edmonton Oilers for forward Viktor Arvidsson.
Arvidsson can slot into the Bruins middle-six, but he won't be their true answer for needing a top-six forward, or scoring depth.
One player the Bruins could acquire to help them is former Columbus Blue Jackets first-round pick Yegor Chinakhov.
Today, an NHL insider revealed that the Boston Bruins did have an offer on the table for him.

Bruins had a trade in line to acquire Yegor Chinakhov

Dominic Tiano revealed today on X (Twitter) that the Boston Bruins did have an offer in place to acquire Chinakhov.
Ultimately, the Columbus Blue Jackets ended up turning the offer down:
Believe The Bruins made a play for Chinakhov but CBJ turned it down
It's unclear what the Boston Bruins ended up offering for Chinakhov, but clearly it was not good enough to acquire the former first-round pick.
Chinakhov has been linked to the Boston Bruins ever since he requested a trade from the Blue Jackets organization.
It will be interesting to see if the Boston Bruins try and make another deal with the Blue Jackets to acquire him.
