The Boston Bruins are still looking for their official head coach for the 2025-26 NHL season, and an insider just revealed what the hold up may be because of.
Don Sweeney has missed out on a lot of big named head coaches, and top candidates for the Bruins vacant head coaching job, and it may have just been revealed why.
Multiple teams have already found their next head coach including the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Seattle Kraken and the Chicago Blackhawks, leaving just the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins as the final teams that have yet to announce their next head coach.
Earlier in the week it was announced that the Boston Bruins ended up hiring Marco Sturm as head coach, but Elliotte Friedman confirmed it was not a complete deal.
Elliotte says Marco Sturm still has another visit with the Bruins. Possible he'll be offered the job there, but might not be a done deal just yet.
Why The Bruins Haven't Announced A Head Coach
Kevin Paul Dupont, a trusted Bruins insider stated that the reason the Bruins have yet to hire a head coach may be because one of their candidates they were really interested in was just eliminated from the playoffs.
Dallas Stars assistant coach Misha Donskov is reportedly a hot name surrounding the Bruins coaching search, and they may have been waiting to see what happened with him before announcing their next head coach:

Donskov joined the Stars coaching staff in 2023 after he spent seven years with the Vegas Golden Knights.
He ended up helping the Golden Knights construct their roster that made it to the Stanley Cup Final in their first season, but unfortunately did not win the Cup. The Golden Knights made the playoffs five out of six years he was apart of the club.
