NHL Insider Shockingly Reveals The Bruins Are At A Standstill And Have Not Started Any Negotiations
The Boston Bruins seem to be at a standstill with multiple UFAs and RFAs in the lineup. What could be the holdup? Well according to Allan Walsh of Agent Provocateur, NHL teams could be waiting for the salary cap to be raised.
As it stands now the Boston Bruins have six RFA and UFA's who they will need to take care of.
But these rumors are typical for the season, pundits and insiders speculate based on what they've heard.
But never anything concrete. With news of a salary cap increase, could we see GM Don Sweeney prioritize the six players mentioned below instead of trading them?
this spread sheet has the current B's RFA/FA this summer as follows:
Johnny Beecher: 2x$1.76M
Justin Brazeau: 2x$1.4M
Trent Frederic: 4x$3.9M
Morgan Geekie: 4x$3.25M
Mason Lohrei: 2x$3M
Brad Marchand: 3x$7.5M
who stays and who goes in your opinion?
NHL Agent, and Agent Provocateur Host Allan Walsh simply thinks deals and trades are grinding to a halt due to the fact GMs and teams would rather wait to see their coffers refilled before they engage in anything serious.
This is a perspective that makes sense, as Walsh has been around the game quite a while.
He's currently an Agent of
Marc-Andre Fleury and knows his way around the NHL, so it's difficult to discount his wisdom and knowledge of a team's internal processes.
And this could be the case for the Boston Bruins who haven't tendered an offer to Trent Frederic, or the other five players as they only have $3.9 million in cap space at the moment.
Should the salary cap get a significant increase soon, it'll have to be approved by the league and the NHLPA.
Until then, it sounds like we should hang tight, as now it seems we're all in limbo.
