NHL Player Safety Hands a Boston Bruins Defenseman a Harsh Punishment Following A Recent Announcement

Don Sweeney and his Boston Bruins group have been lead into a corner following their recent trade deadline deals, leaving many wondering what the organizations directions are moving forward, a rebuild? A re-tooling process? It is up in the air.

One thing that is certain is players' frustrations throughout the organization, and it has been more evident as of late following Boston Bruins defenseman Zadorov's comments on fellow teammate and goaltender Jeremy Swayman, after the netminder let his frustrations loose in attempt to drop the mitts with LA Kings' Darcey Kuemper.

Now fellow defenseman Michael Callahan has let his frustrations loose by delivering a harsh cross check on Anaheim Ducks' Jansen Harkins.

The NHL has player safety has announced that Callahan has been fined for his acts in Wednesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks.

According to a statement by the NHL Player Safety, this is the maximum fine able to be dished out for cross-checking.

These funds will now enter the leagues' player relief funds.

As the 2024-25 season is slowly ticking down with only nine-games left before playoffs kick off, Callahan may have been hoping for a suspension to have a game or two off from the Bruins, who are on a seven game losing streak.
