It's evident that a few Bruins were playing through injuries, but Patrice Bergeron shared that he was - and still is - suffering from a terrible one during the opening round against the Panthers.
Leaving It All On the Ice
Boston's captain was forced to miss the first four games of the series due to an undisclosed injury and a supposed illness. However, Bergeron shared exactly what was ailing him, and it's safe to say that it's unexpected.
''I have a herniated disc in my back, so that's why I missed the four games and tried to rush to come back. Obviously, it's stiff, but it's definitely not something to use as an excuse. It is what it is. Everybody is battling something in the playoffs, but it's unfortunate the way it happened on a fluke play.''
- Patrice Bergeron
And as Joe Haggerty of Boston Hockey Now shared, the injury was unfortunately suffered in the regular season finale in Montreal.
This is another instance that proves Patrice Bergeron is the best captain in the league. The amount of injuries he's played through during the postseason has been outstanding, and honestly, we can all agree that he deserved so much more this season.
Shockingly, the Bruins were 0-3 with and 3-1 without Bergeron in the lineup during the first round of playoffs.
