The Boston Bruins just issued a surprising announcement regarding goaltender Joonas Korpisalo

Although the Bruins may be bummed due to the fact they are out of reach for the NHL 2025 postseason playoffs, the organization has just revealed some uplifting news regarding one of Boston's goaltenders, Joonas Korpisalo, as he has just become this year's annual candidate for an honorable trophy.
The Boston organization announced today that goaltender, Joonas Korpisalob, has been nominated for the NHL's 2025 Masterton Trophy.
A trophy that is awarded to the player that best displays the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey, which was named after the one and only, Bill Masterton.

Masterton was an NHL player prior to enduring a life-threatening injury, which ultimately concluded with his passing at the young age of 29.
He unfortunately became the only person in NHL history to die as a direct result of injuries suffered during a game, the result of a massive head injury following a hit on January 13, 1968.
The National Hockey League began to represent his name as a proud description of perseverance in memory of the former NHL player.
In honor of Bill Masterton, the league rewards the player who best exemplifies his qualities, and this year, the organization revealed they believe Korpisalo is the most deserving within the Boston Bruins roster.
