Boston collected the record breaking 63rd win last night, but were missing some key players, including Ullmark, who missed the historic ''Win Hug'' with Swayman.
Although they were missing several key players (as noted above), the Bruins were still able to pull off a 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. With the win, they broke the NHL's single-season win record of 62.
The biggest ''concern'' amongst Bruins fans was what would happen during the traditional win hug between
Linus Ullmark and
Jeremy Swayman, if one of them wasn't there, of course. Well, on Sunday we got that answer as Providence's
Brandon Bussi filled in, as the ''Win Hug'' was a unique one.
Swayman on the hug without Ullmark:
''I was a little bummed that [Ullmark] wasn't gonna make the trip, but it was awesome. [Providence call-up Brandon Bussi] came in, he was iffy, and I said, 'Come over here'.''
Ullmark should be back on Tuesday when the Washington Capitals visit TD Garden, as the Vezina frontrunner was just resting on Sunday. The 29-year-old has an incredible 39-6-1 record, while leading all goalies in GAA (1.89) and SV% (.938).
With his 39 wins, Ullmark now only trails Pete Peeters for the franchise record of wins in a season by a Bruins goalie, who had 40 in the 1982-83 season. With only two game remaining, however, he will most likely only get one more start.
