Jeremy Swayman had the worst year of his career for the Boston Bruins in the 2024-25 season, and it was reported that a lot of teams are going to be calling the Bruins regarding him.
Entering the season, the Bruins thought they found their number one goaltender, but that might not be the case at all.
Swayman was signed to a massive contract by the Boston Bruins in the off-season, giving him the role as the starting goaltender, but now he may be on his way out.
During his first full season as the starting goaltender, Swayman ended up struggling finishing the year with a record of 22-29-7 with a .892 SV% and a 3.11 GAA in 58 starts.
With the off-season here, there is some speculation that Swayman may be on his way out.
Friedman Speaks On Swayman's Future With The Bruins
Recently on Elliotte Friedman's 32 Thoughts podcast, he stated that the Boston Bruins are receiving some attention regarding Swayman, and that they aren't turning the teams away.
This was a tough year as you know. And I think teams, do they do their due diligence? I think they call and say, 'This was a rough year, you made a lot of changes, what other changes are you thinking and would you ever think about doing something like [trading Swayman]?'
The Bruins are not actively shopping Swayman, but they made it clear that he is not an untouchable player on the roster.
I do think teams have called [the Bruins], teams that have goaltending questions, and they have asked the Bruins would you consider doing it? And I think the Bruins proved this year that the answer for them is not necessarily no, but I think it would take an awful lot for them to consider it.
Sweeney is going to be busy this off-season to try and make the Bruins a better team for the 2025-26 season, and Swayman being traded could very well be something that ends up happening.
