Two New Head Coaching Candidates Emerge For The Boston Bruins After Recent Stanley Cup Playoff Elimination
With the Washington Capitals recently being eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Carolina Hurricanes, two new head coaches have emerged as potential candidates for the Boston Bruins vacant head coaching position.
There have been multiple head coaches that the Boston Bruins have missed out on, and it seems like they are waiting for the right head coach to become available, and one may have just became available.
After unexpectedly being knocked out of the playoffs by the Carolina Hurricanes, two coaches from the Washington Capitals have emerged as candidates for the Boston Bruins.
Two New Coaches Emerge As Head Coaching Candidates
With the
Washington Capitals being eliminated, both Mitch Love, and Kirk Muller have emerged as candidates for the Bruins head coaching position. Both of them were assistant coaches for the Washington Capitals.
Love just completed his second season being on Spencer Carbery's staff. The 40-year old was in charge of the Washington Capitals defense, and their penalty kill ranked 5th in the league, and 10th in shots against per game during the regular season.
Muller was also apart of Carbery's staff for the second straight season. Both of them have a desire for a strong defensive structure.
The 1993 Stanley Cup champion took a defense-first philosophy from his previous bosses: Darryl Sutter (Calgary), Claude Julien (Montreal Canadiens) and Ken Hitchcock (St. Louis Blues). Muller coached
Elias Lindholm when they were on the Carolina Hurricanes, whom he coached from 2011-14.
Don Sweeney did confirm at the NHL Draft Lottery that there was a candidate that was still in the playoffs, and that could possibly be Love or Muller.
