An unexpected turn of events has surfaced in the Boston Bruins being a landing spot for Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Mitch Marner during the off-season.
Boston has shown immense interest in targeting the 27-year old, Mitch Marner, this free agency, and new information has left a leading NHL analyst doubtful of the forward's long-term future in Toronto.
With absolutely no progress on a contract extension, Marner is set to hit free agency, and now Bruins fans are speculating his future plans within the NHL, with hopes he will be on his way to Boston.
Additionally, following a one-on-one interview with Mitch Marner, a Leafs writer, Jonas Siegel, shared on TSN's OverDrive that he is now less confident that the star-winger will stay in Toronto.
"I left the conversation less sure he wants to stay than before," Siegel stated. "Now, that's just reading between the lines-only he knows what he's thinking. Obviously, the playoffs will play a big role, but I went into it 50-50 on whether he stays or goes. Now, I'm leaning toward him possibly leaving."
Siegel then revealed that Marner repeatedly avoided any commitment to Toronto, instead he emphasized that he is 'just here to play hockey.'
"I'm here to enjoy everything, go through the ups and downs with these guys, take it day by day, and help us win games," Marner stated during the interview.
Although there is no confirmation of where this star's future stands, we can expect this forward to have a new destination to call home in the 2025/26 NHL season, and Bruins fans are hopeful it's Boston.
