Boston Bruins Hall of Fame defenseman Zdeno Chara has officially issued a statement after being hired by the Boston Bruins.
Yesterday, the Boston Bruins announced the official hiring of Zdeno Chara, which was spoken about way back in the off-season.
#NHLBruins have announced that Zdeno Chara has been named Hockey Operations Advisor and Mentor. Chara will work closely with both players and staff to advise the organization in key areas.
Today, Chara ended up meeting with the media for the first time and issued a statement.
Chara speaks on his new role with the Boston Bruins
Chara stated that the reason he wanted to come back to the Bruins organization is because he spent 20 years in Boston, and he raised his family here.
Zdeno Chara on his new role as Hockey Operations Advisor and Mentor:
"It's been an unbelievable 20-plus years. Living here, being part of the Original Six franchise. My family has been raised here, we stay here, we live here. It became home. That's why I am here."

David Pastrnak also spoke on his relationship with Chara.

"I had to call him Mr. Chara -- that's our rules back home. In the language we speak, always when we meet respectful or older people, we have to be respectful."

This is such a cool move by the Boston Bruins, and one that hopefully helps the Bruins moral in the organization.
