IndyCar driver Zach Claman DeMelo has levied serious accusations against Detroit Red Wings forward Daniel Sprong, alleging an assault during the Detroit Grand Prix week.

DeMelo recounts two distinct incidents involving Sprong, one of which left him with chipped teeth, a bloodied mouth, and arm scrapes. Additionally, he claims to have suffered a concussion as a result of the alleged assault. DeMelo has taken to Instagram to share images of his injuries and provide his perspective on the events.

"During Grand Prix weekend, I was assaulted at a nightclub by @detroitredwings @nhl player @sprong11. He grabbed my neck and pinned me to a wall, and though separated during the initial scuffle, Daniel returned later to sucker-punch me while I was defenseless. The aftermath images in the slideshow depict the incident's effects. The required dental work was grueling, and my recovery from a sustained concussion continues over recent weeks."

While DeMelo's decision on pursuing criminal charges remains undisclosed, his mention of possible legal actions hangs in the air. As of now, neither Sprong nor the Red Wings have issued any statement regarding the matter.
